IMPROVED ENGINE THERMOSTAT

No longer do you have to watch helplessly while your engine reaches boiling point in a traffic jam or on a long journey, due to thermostat failure!
Thermogem has patented a thermostat which offers a safety mechanism over and above its conventional function. The product was developed with the assistance of The Department for Rapid Prototype Development of the Central University of the Orange Free State.

Engine thermostats can be unreliable, but the new product, Thermogem, has no additional moving parts.  The thermostat features specially formulated metal plugs that melt at a specified temperature, thereby enabling unrestricted flow of coolant. This stabilises the engine temperature, and the driver can drive on, rather than being stranded at a potentially unsafe location. The metals are highly reliable and are manufactured to British ISO 9001 2000 standards. The metals have no effect on the engine whatsoever. Furthermore the Thermogem design makes it possible to determine what temperature an overheated engine actually reached.

The product is simple, reasonably priced, and will be available for most cars. 

Models for heavy motor vehicles are also under development and can save a fleet owner hundreds of thousands of Rands in downtime, engine repairs, spoilt cargo and claims.
